More and more travelers are already choosing to travel to Peru in 2025

For many years now, Peru has been the most popular tourism destination in South America, and new global consumer confidence in the country as a safe travel destination, together with renewed growth across the international travel industry, means that Peru is expected to improve in 2025 on its pre-pandemic visitor numbers.

This fresh optimism within the nation’s travel sector has meant that the most frequently visited attractions in the country are already preparing for more travelers and tourists. At Machu Picchu, new tour guidelines have made it possible to increase daily visitor numbers for 2025 to 5600, while still ensuring that this Wonder of the Modern World is protected and conserved.

With increased capacity for Machu Picchu visits Peru is preparing for more visitors

All travelers who visit Peru come to our home town, Cusco, and our city has also been preparing for an increased influx of visitors next year. The best restaurants, hotels and other tourism-related businesses in the city, such as souvenir stores and coffee shops, have been getting ready for next year’s high season, and airlines have already announced more flights on certain routes, including Lima to Cusco, and Cusco to Puerto Maldonado, in the Amazon rainforest.

While an increase in visitor numbers is good news for us at Hierba Buena Tours, and for everyone here who relies on tourism to make a living, from taxi drivers to restaurant staff and tour guides, international travelers shouldn’t worry about Cusco, the Sacred Valley of the Incas, Rainbow Mountain and Machu Picchu being too crowded to enjoy! While we are hoping that as many as 4.5 million people visit Peru next year, it’s important to put that figure into perspective. Last year, the Italian city of Florence received almost nine million overnight visitors, while as a whole, Mexico welcomed more than 40 million international tourists.

So, Peru is still one of the best places to visit for travelers looking for something different and “off-the-beaten-track”. Join us in our home town, and let us organize your dream vacation!
